10th Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy

​The Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy have established a reputation for providing scholars with an excellent opportunity to present both advanced and exploratory work to a welcoming audience. Graduate students, junior researchers and senior scholars are welcome to submit their work. 

This event is organized by the CENTRE FOR ETHICS, POLITICS AND SOCIETY (CEPS), University of Minho (Braga). ​

​The Braga Meetings on Ethics and Political Philosophy have established a reputation for providing scholars with an excellent opportunity to present both advanced and exploratory work to a welcoming audience. Graduate students, junior researchers and senior scholars are welcome to submit their work. 

This event is organized by the CENTRE FOR ETHICS, POLITICS AND SOCIETY (CEPS), University of Minho (Braga). ​

Proposals are welcome.

Our Meeting combines two different modalities.  You can either submit your abstract to the General Session or to the Special Session, not both.
​

Our General Session welcomes proposals in any area of moral, political, or legal philosophy and in normative political theory. Selected submissions to these session will be organized in panels in the according to thematic affinity.


Special Session: "Revisiting The Idea of Human Rights"

On this tenth edition of our Meetings we will also celebrate the tenth anniversary of Charles Beitz’s The Idea of Human Rights. For this remarkable occasion we will host a special session focused on the assessment of the practical/political turn on human rights with Charles Beitz and a selected group of keynote speakers. As part of this research project we plan to publish a selection of papers presented therein for a special issue of a peer-review academic journal. If you want to submit to this special session please choose the appropriate option in the registration form.

Keynote speakers this year will be:
Prof. Charles Beitz (Princeton University) 
Prof. Allen Buchanan (Duke University)
Prof. Andreas Føllesdal (PluriCourts-University of Oslo)
Prof. Regina Kreide (Justus Liebig University, Giessen)
Prof. Cristina Lafont (Northwestern University)
Prof. Andrea Sangiovanni (European University Institute)

Convenors:
João Cardoso Rosas (CEPS - UMinho)
David Álvarez (CEPS / UVigo)

Abstract submission:
Proposals must contain an abstract (400-500 words) prepared for blind review, along with 5 keywords. 
Please provide your name, contact information, affiliation, and a short 2-3 line bio.

Proposals must be sent via this Registration Form.
Members of socially under-represented collectives are especially encouraged to apply.
​The official language of the conference will be English. Please check here for information about other languages.

Deadline for abstract submissions: March 11, 2019.
Deadline for notification of acceptance: April 1, 2019.
